In many places, when a new building or monument or a statue is under construction, it is often kept covered to keep it hidden from the public. But at the appointed time, the covering is removed, revealing the structure in all its glory for everyone to see. In the same way, God has chosen to unveil mysteries—hidden since the beginning of time—to His servants in these last days.
When we speak of mysteries in a biblical context, one powerful example that comes to mind is the story of Daniel and King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. The king had a troubling and mysterious dream, and as a pagan ruler, he turned to his magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, and astrologers for interpretation. Yet none of them could provide an answer. Finally, they turned to a man of God—Daniel—who, through the power of God’s Spirit, was able to interpret the dream and reveal its meaning to the king. You can read the full account in Daniel 2 to see how these events unfolded.
[Daniel 2:1-2, 11 NIV] 1 In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his mind was troubled and he could not sleep. 2 So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king, ... 11 What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among humans."
How did Daniel succeed when others could not interpreting this dream, its by God’s wisdom and grace that helped Daniel as he had a true relationship with God.
[Daniel 2:19-22 NIV] 19 During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven 20 and said: "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. 21 He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. 22 He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.
There are six divine mysteries revealed by God in the Bible and as believers, it’s important for us to understand them.
1. The Mystery of Christ and the Gospel
[Ephesians 3:4-6 NIV] 4 In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets. 6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.
The mystery of Christ and his Gospel.
This was a radical revelation: God’s salvation was not limited to Israel—it was extended to the Gentiles as well, all through Christ.
Though hinted at in the Old Testament, this mystery was fully revealed in the New Testament.
The mystery is that the same gospel offered to Israel—though many missed it—is now being shared with the Gentiles, bringing both together as one body in Christ. And this unity comes only through Jesus Christ.
2. The Mystery of God’s Will
[Ephesians 1:9-10 NIV] 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment--to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
The mystery of God’s will in our lives and to the church.
God has revealed His divine plan—a mystery once hidden—to unite all things in heaven and on earth under the authority of Christ.
He empowers His people with prophetic wisdom to carry out His will on the earth.
The work of the Church is not driven by human agendas, but flows in alignment with God’s will.
As verse 11 states, we are chosen and predestined according to the purpose of Him who works out everything in conformity with His will.
3. The Mystery of the Church
[Colossians 1:26-27 NIV] 26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord's people. 27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
[1 Timothy 3:16 NIV] 16 Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
Scripture refers to a great and divine mystery—one that was hidden for generations but now revealed to God’s people.
This mystery is Christ in us, the hope of glory, now made known even among the Gentiles.
1 Timothy 3:16 highlights the mystery of Christ’s incarnation, ministry, and ascension, as the foundation of godliness.
A deeper mystery is also revealed: Christ and the Church are united as one, just as a bride is one with her bridegroom. The Church, His bride, is called to walk in purity, just as Christ walked.
The Church is not a building, but a spiritual body—made up of both Jew and Gentile—formed according to God’s eternal plan, now revealed in Christ.
4. The Mystery of the Kingdom
[Mark 4:11-12 NIV] 11 He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables 12 so that, " 'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!'"
Jesus often spoke in parables to reveal spiritual truths about the Kingdom of God—truths hidden from the proud but revealed to those with open hearts.
He made it clear that the Kingdom is not only a future reality, but was already present in Him and would continue to unfold over time.
Understanding the Scriptures and the Kingdom requires spiritual insight—a revelation of the mystery of God, which is not given to everyone, but to those whom God enables to see and hear.
5. The Mystery of the Resurrection / Transformation
[1 Corinthians 15:51-53 NIV] 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-- 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
This mystery reveals that not everyone will experience physical death, but all believers will be transformed at Christ’s return
In an instant—in the twinkling of an eye—when the last trumpet sounds, the dead in Christ will be raised with imperishable bodies, and the living will be transformed into Christ’s likeness.
Our mortal body will be clothed with immortality, fully prepared to enter eternity with Him and be with him for ever.
6. The Mystery of Lawlessness
[2 Thessalonians 2:7 NIV] 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.
This mystery reveals that lawlessness (or iniquity) is not just future—it is already at work in the world.
Ultimately, Satan will manifest himself fully through a person—the Antichrist, often called “the lawless one.”
Secret power of lawlessness at works is detailed in [2 Thessalonians 2:7-12 NIV] 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
This “lie” goes back to the Garden of Eden—the same lie Satan told Eve: “You can sin and not face consequences.”
It remains Satan’s greatest deception—and tragically, many, even among believers, have embraced it.
This is the mystery of lawlessness: a hidden, persistent force that leads people to believe that sin doesn’t matter, that God won’t judge it.
Although God has revealed these mysteries to us, many remain spiritually blind, and only a few truly recognize and understand them. We see a similar pattern in the story of Daniel—though the times have changed, the condition of people’s hearts remains the same. We may be living in the year 2025, but the spiritual blindness and resistance to truth still persist. Why is it that, despite the passage of time, the situation remains unchanged?
The answer to that is in the Bible
Our God is a revealer. In His love, He unveils hidden things to His children, revealing treasures that lie in darkness. To reveal means to remove the veil. Once the veil is lifted, what was once concealed becomes visible, like how a monument is revealed when the veil is lifted up.
When God was about to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, God revealed his plans to Abraham, as he was considered as God’s friend.
[Genesis 18:17 NIV] 17 Then the LORD said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?
[Isaiah 41:8 NIV] 8 "But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend,
Similarly, when the Apostle John was exiled on the island of Patmos, God entrusted him with powerful visions—revelations about Jesus, the Church, heaven, Satan, hell, and eternity. [Revelation 1:1 NIV] 1 The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,
God reveals His truths to those He has chosen—those He calls His children and His friends.
Who are children of God? - All believers are his children, but God reveals certain things to only few of his children, these are special chosen children, For God these special children - who are overcomers. [Revelation 21:7 NIV] 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.
Overcomers are those who overcome the Spiritual struggles they face to do his will.
Overcomers who are put their self to become meek in front of God to do his works [Matthew 5:5 NIV] 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
One who is a friend of God? – Abraham was a friend of God, how did he become one?
Faith and Obedience: Abraham is considered a friend of God because of his strong faith and obedient heart. He trusted God even when asked to do difficult things, like leaving his homeland (Genesis 12) and being willing to sacrifice his son Isaac (Genesis 22). His faith made him righteous in God’s eyes, and God was pleased with him.
Relationship: A friend is someone with whom you share an intimate relationship. Abraham’s willingness to communicate with God, including his dialogues with God (e.g., Genesis 18:17–33, where Abraham negotiates with God over the fate of Sodom), demonstrates a deep, personal relationship.
God’s Covenant with Abraham: God’s covenant with Abraham was personal and marked by promises of blessings for him and his descendants (Genesis 17:1-8). This covenant demonstrates a relationship that goes beyond a typical master-servant dynamic and reflects a deep, familial bond.
Ask yourself : Are you a friend of God ? If not, it’s time to begin building that relationship. The Bible tells us that God doesn’t just call us servants—He calls us friends. And what do friends do? They share their hearts, their thoughts, and they walk together through every season—joy, sorrow, challenges, and celebration. That’s the kind of relationship God desires with you.
If you’ve accepted Jesus as your Savior, take the next step—grow deeper and build that friendship with Him. As the promise is true, he calls as friends in [John 15:15 NIV] 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
Children of God, seek Him wholeheartedly, and He will reveal His mysteries to you. He desires to share these secrets not for our personal gain, but so that we may carry out His will—nothing more, nothing less.
