Life is has its up’s and downs. Many times when we are in the down side, we humans always look for some one to help us, when we are sick we look for some one to help us with medical care to stay up. When we are financially weak we look for others to help even look to institutions to help us with Loan.. When we are emotionally depleted we look to help from fellow humans to be comforted, just with the presence of loved ones will make a huge difference.
When Moses lead six hundred thousand Israelites, they were terrified on the situations that was around them. God cared each of this Israelite like how a father would care by carrying on the shoulder.. He did many miracles, he heard the cry of theirs to make them get out of Egyptian slavery, he made them cross the Red sea. He lead them in the wilderness for 40 years before he took them to the promised land. He was true to his promise “he will never leave you nor forsake you”
Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV) 'The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” '
As God’s children we also have hold the same thats true to you and me - as well “he will never leave you nor forsake you”
Helper in Our Need
But we still struggle to get a helping hand in times of trouble.. Every one of us will have a story around this where we failed to get help..
Often we don’t understand the promise that God has given to us.
Promise to help us and be with us forever
John 14:15-16 ' “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—'
The helping hand comes to only one who loves him.
If you love someone, you reciprocate the love through our actions for them, its the same for God. If you love God you spend time with him, read his word, follow his commands, be in contact to ask help from him. This relationship is where he will help make God to avenge and fight back in times of trouble.
The reason why we don’t find help in times of trouble are
We use God only as a helper when we need and ditch him after that, there is no connect with him. We use him as a Urban clap service for what we need.
We want God to help only on few areas of life. e.g when we want finances to meet our earthly needs, when we need school admission, when we need healing of sickness etc.. We don’t want God to help us fix the sins of life as we feel thats one’s individual decision not God’s.
We love God for material needs, not for him to use us according to his plan.
We don’t find help from God as he wants us to be corrected for our bad decisions or bad behaviour. Like how a father tries to corrects his child many times.he delays to help them so that they realise their mistakes
Secrets for getting help from God is Love for God
John 14:21 'Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” '
If you love God you will follow his commands, Obey his direction on what you read in Bible, You will listen to him.
The first commandment thats given by God as well Mark 12:30-31 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”'
So how do you love God ?
Keep God as the 1st priority in your life. Analyse what you do 1st thing in the Morning. Do you spend time with God or do others, that shows what your love for God is - A simple test. Another test is to see what do you do 1st after getting a blessing, how do you react ? do you thank god for the blessing or just start. These are some stater things which we can identify God's love is there or not.
Don’t follow God just for religious sake. you will be a pharisee or sadducee at some time and will not get favour from God.. Follow God for righteous sake, to be righteous in his eyes..
Don’t follow God for getting worldly blessing alone. Remember the time we spend in the world is short. We should long for a eternal blessing and to get that we need to have spiritual blessing, these spiritual blessing continues to eternity. The promise is clear- Seek him and his righteousness. then the worldly blessing will also follow along with that.. Matthew 6:33 'But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. '
So How does God help ?
God provides his Holy Spirit to his beloved ,to help those who love him. Keep in mind the Holy Spirit cannot be seen by the worldly or will understand what it means, but if you love with your heart and soul he will be there for you for ever and help you. He also promises us this help to be there for ever and not abandon us as a orphan..
John 14:17-19 'the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.'
Lets look at some examples in the Bible on how people were helped on various things so that it reaffirms the faith in God that he will surely help you as well..
Holy Spirit was the helper in crafting all the design work / crafts and stones for building the temple. The world will call this talent, But from God it comes as "Spirit of God" to produce the help . Exodus 31:1-5 'Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts. '
Holy Spirit was the helper in protecting and evading Joseph from committing sin- Genesis 39:9-10 'No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her. '
Holy Spirit was the protector for Joseph for the bitterness from others - Genesis 49:22-24 '“Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine near a spring, whose branches climb over a wall. With bitterness archers attacked him; they shot at him with hostility. But his bow remained steady, his strong arms stayed limber, because of the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel, '
Daniel was filled with Holy Spirit to have insights / intelligence and outstanding wisdom - Daniel 5:11,13-14 'There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods in him. In the time of your father he was found to have insight and intelligence and wisdom like that of the gods. Your father, King Nebuchadnezzar, appointed him chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners. So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, “Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah? I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom. '
Jesse is the father of King David, from the roots of David. Prophet Isaiah was blessed with the wisdom from Holy Spirit Isaiah 11:1-3 'A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord — and he will delight in the fear of the Lord . He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; '
Paul did extraordinary miracles thru the Holy Spirit, even the handkerchief he touched gave life and freedom from sickness. Acts 19:11-12 'God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. '
Once you have the Love of God, ask him with eagerness, he gives you the Holy Spirit as the helper, which also has many more added benefits
You become the child of God - Once you are a child of God, satan has no power / authority over you nor your belongings, he cannot touch you without God’s permission Romans 8:14 'For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. '
You start living a life pleasing to God than your own self giving way to Righteous life - Romans 8:10 'But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. '
The Holy Spirit searches deep things of God and reveals to us - 1 Corinthians 2:10-11 'these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. '
You have more Power in the name of Christ - Once you have the Holy Spirit it helps with Knowledge, wisdom, healing, prophesy, ,talking in different tongues, cast demons etc.. 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 'Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.'
So seek his help -Love God. Don’t be selective in what you want God to help you with. He longs to help , his ways cannot be fathomed . Read the old testament you understand how he has helped Kings / rulers and from generations to generations. Read the life of Jesus he has given himself to help us fight the sins with his blood.. So seek him to get help of his helping hand
